Following the Surprise Creek trail at roughly the 4 mile mark you will start to head up the ridge line where you will come over a the lip and in another quarter mile come to Surprise Lake.

The trail wraps around the East rim of Surprise Lake before taking you up the ridge to join with the Pacific Crest Trail Section J.  Roughly a half mile down the PCT you will see a steep slope to the right that will lead you down to Glacier Lake.
